The Vortex VR Nightclub is a “sentient” virtual reality nightclub where Second Life, online social networks and video games converge in real life.  The venue is designed as a safe adult playspace that catalyzes creative expression and social interaction.

Vortex’s centerpiece is an immersive dome dance floor that completely surrounds the audience in cinematic quality digital video and a state-of-the-art 3D sound system.  Driven by a proprietary Immersive Media Interface, the Vortex IJ (immersive jockey) drives club media and video feeds from Photonic Go-Go Booths, interactive stations and web portals.  The central playspace is surrounded by VR Lounges allowing more intimate interaction between those within the club and also with outside visitors via the internet.

Vortex is digitally themed using augmented reality technology allowing nightclub experiences to radically change on a periodic - or even nightly - basis. Visitors will see themselves reflected in the space as “VORTEX Avatars” – digital representations of themselves that are easily controlled without the need for goggles, gloves or any wearable gear. Visitors can interact with one another via their unique avatars, and can activate and trade avatar behaviors and gifts using simple gestures. Visitors will lose themselves within the visually and aurally immersive virtual environment, creating a deeper sense of togetherness and an addictive quality that keeps visitors coming back for more.
